Woody Plants with Fragrant Flowers
Quite a few of the woody plants bear scented blossoms. Some of those are the following.

Daphne

A number of daphnes are in cultivation The plants seem to prefer a pH of 5 to 5.5. They can be evergreen, deciduous, or semi-evergreen, according to the species and cultivar. Several species are widely grown for the flowers.

The daphnes bear very sweetly fragrant blooms, which are often white or pink. These are held in small clusters and lack petals.

The plant size can vary slightly, depending on the species or variety. Most are 3 to 4 feet in height. However, there are also dwarf ones that are less than a foot tall, which are perfect for small gardens. These bear fleshy or leathery fruits.

These plants need a cool, well drained soil. Some species are easier to grow than others. They do best in sheltered spots. Daphnes need to be kept evenly moist. Deer ignore the plants. They appear to be short lived. These shrubs can be hard to transplant. For that reason, choose small plants that will be more likely to survive the transplanting process.

Daphnes can be used for borders and rock gardens. Most are suited to sandy loams.

Elaeagnus

The elaeagnus can be small, hardy trees or shrubs, depending on the species. Some kinds are evergreen, while others are deciduous. Some are hardy to zone 5, while others need a slightly warmer climate.

Recommended species include autumn elaeagnus, hardy to zone 5, and thorny elaeagnus, hardy to zone 7.

The plants can be used for borders, screens, and hedges. Some are grown primarily for the attractive foliage or their fruits.

These thrive in dry soils. The plants do well in full sun and part shade.

Russian olive is an invasive species in some areas. The sturdy, dense plant is tolerant of wind, heat, and salt spray.

Once established, the various elaeagnus can tolerate drought. Deer ignore these plants. The leaves have a silver sheen due to the tiny silver dots on both surfaces.

The rather inconspicuous flowers are mostly scented in most species. The colorful, berry-like fruits can vary in color, according to the species. Often, these are red with silver dots. The foliage can be very attractive and colorful. This is often dotted with silver-like scales.
